working on a sb 350. Got the car running and running good. Put the timing light on and find out the timing is way advanced. Adjust the distributor to bring the timing to where it is supposed to be, now car wants to run like a pice of junk-- backfiring thru carb and won't idle---. Only way it runs is way advanced. Any ideas? Also while playing with the timing it backfired thru the carb real hard. graemlins/angry.gif Now sound like #2 is not firing at all. Hear a poping out exhaust. Again any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help

yes it is a vac advance dist. not plugged off. Don't mind running it there, it just starts very hard when warm.

check to see if your TDC mark is correct.

68's got a good idea there it wouldn't Uncommon for the damper to have spun making the timing mark off ....set timing to make car happy graemlins/thumbsup.gif .. (not timing light) ;) from what you've posted you should Check it - IF - its moved its time for a new balancer graemlins/sad.gif
