I have a 1986 El Camino 4.3L. The motor is new apx. 6,000 Mi. on it but MPG is bad. I put in STP injector cleaner and the MPG went up from 17 to 20 and it ran great as it has and still does, same gas pump filed to the top of the neck, same roads and driving style. After the tank with STP the MPG went back down to 17. My questions are, am I missing something or is that what the STP will do? Is there any thing I need to replace or check? Any ideas on getting MPG up as this looks low to me..

I would guess that it may have slightly increased the octane. My 83 Grand Prix 305 gets much better mileage on premium.
