My holley carborator rescently started making this really loud popping sound. It mostly occurs in the first 10 minutes of the engine being fired up and when i accelerate. Ive heard people say it could be many things.

Failure to break in camshaft correctly, resulting in stripping the cam loeb's and time chain.

Problem w/ a valve

Just overall timing.

Improper air fuel mixture.

How do i fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This to me sounds like a flat cam lobe. Just pull the valve covers and start the engine and watch the action of your rocker arms. All should have the same action or movement. Any gas popping out of the top of the carb.?

claptonizt,
popping out the intake usually indicates a lean condition. First I would make sure you have the right CFM carb for your application, pull the plugs and see what they look like.

The only time I had that type of problem was before I recurved my distributor. I couldnt get enough advance & it caused my carb to hiccup. I replaced the weights & springs & that did the trick.
