Frusted as hell, please help. 1969-396 installed in 67 chevelle. Replaced long water pump with short. Ordered short pump altenator brackets. No way its going to fit with 69 power steering reservoir (both PS and altenator on drivers side). Is there altenator brackets for 67 short water pump that bolt up on passenger side? (please tell me yes) If not I'm getting ready to get the grinder out and modify the new lower altenator bracket i just bought. When looking at space on drivers side, how in the hell do you get both altenator and PS pump bolted up there? JEEEEEZZZZ Im, this close to cranking it up and seems like chevelle gods are pounding me. Please help, someone,,,,,,,,,,thanks craig

68 and older big block chevelles & 72 and older big block trucks with short water pumps have a remote resivor p/s pump, most of the repro stores sell complete kits but$$$$$ the last used set I had sold for $250 new kits are $350+. if you have complete 69 p/s brackets (one year only parts) you can sell them and cover some of the corect pump price

This lack of space between the steering box and the alternator is why the 65-68 BB Chevelles have the unique and pricey remote reservoir P/S setup...

By the way, the pump itself is the same, just the outer (tin) housing, and of course the brackets...

You can use a pump housing and remote resevoir from a full size van or safari/astro van. The can will work with your pump. The only things are that the return pipe on the can will have to be reformed and the pump will need to be leaned out further to clear the alt bracket. you may need to lenghten the rear pump slide bracket. All parts are resonable priced at you local chev or GM dealer.
