Here's a little history. The baffle in this van comes loose and the gauge reads full to 3/4 full all the time until I "fix" the baffle. Well this time(the third) I put speed nuts to hold the baffle in, install the pump and sending unit raise the tank and button it up. In the past that's all it took and everything worked fine. This time it reads empty all the time. I didn't disconnect any wires as everything came out all together when I removed the pump/sending unit. Any ideas? Thanks Pete

It can only be one of three things.

1. Wire is loose
2. Sending Unit is bad
3. Gage is bad.

You should be able to check the sending unit with a Ohm Meter accross the terminals while you move the float.

You should get voltage to the unit when your key is on.

If that looks good, the gage is bad or you have a loose wire somewhere else.

Can't think of any other ideas.

Troy.

sounds like you could have pinched sender wire between gas tank and frame. if you ground sender wire gauge reads empty, unplug it goes past full

Thanks for the input. Hoping by Thursday the "full" tank will less than full, hopefully close to empty. I'll loosen the tank drop slightly and check the gauge to see if it works then. If so then I'll know I pinched the wire somewhere. I'll keep you posted. Again Thanks for the suggestions. When does all this other stuff stop so I can find time to work on the 67 Camaro and son's 70 Chevelle. Pete
