ALL SS versions came with a base 396/325 and then two options of a 360 and 375hp... No 427

Malibus could have small block engines, but no 396 ;)

66 chevelle's (non SS) came with any of these engines. 194ci I6, 230ci I6, 283ci V8, or 327ci V8. Super Sports came with only one engine size offered in three HP ratings. 396ci 325hp (L-35), 360hp (L34) or 375hp (L78).

There were Canadian built cars, SS 327 in 66 but with a slightly different package name....fairly uncommon IIRC.

As others have mentioned...

1966 Chevelles (US built) only came with (this is just the V8s) 283, 327 and 396s.

The SuperSports ALL had 396. All other Chevelles could only have the 283 or 327.

The one official exception was the El Camino, where the 396 was optional...

There have always been stories about 427s, but those were not "officially" installed by the factory (alot of "dealer" installs), so there would be no way to document one anyway (no built sheet or window sticker)...

The Canadian Malibu SS was different from the US built SS396. The US SuperSport was not a "Malibu" in 1966

The COPO 427s came in 1969, basically because several dealers (Like Yenko and Gibbs) were tired of needing to swap 396s for 427s for their customers... So they found a way to special order the 427 while bypassing GM's offical ban on the 427 in anything but Corvette/Full-size...

yes he would. This SS427 BS has been debunked so throughly it's amazing anybody would still be trying to push it. 10 bolt no less. whattadoofus.

Ask to see his build sheet, post a picture of it here in the restoration forum.
