why not just get a bolt in late model 12:1 steering box and not screw up your steering geometry any worse than it already is?

The only real benefit an R&P setup has over a good performance box is weight, and with all the added cradle to mount it, and the extra linkage to make it not screw up the steering geometry negates that advantage, so in reality, it's an expensive piece that does nothing more than look pretty.
