We know the economy is rough right now and discretionary income is probably small to non-existant but think of this:

If you were only able to take one vacation this year, would you rather spend a lot of money going somewhere where you don't know ANYBODY and may not have a good time or go somewhere where you will know A LOT of people, make a lot of new friends, AND have FUN the entire time (don't forget about the 'sweet tea' :) )?

Another thing to keep in mind, we have re-structured our pricing to give everyone more choices if money is an issue and we have 'upgraded' the food at the banquet. Instead of a 'sit down' style dinner, it will be a 'Banquet styel' so that everyone will have a choice. The food choices will be better too.

Whoever stays at the Holiday Inn for the show is gonna' have a good time. It's a Holidome and they are very nice. We make it a point that if there is a Holidome whenever we go on vacation, thats where we stay.
If you have children, it will be a vacation within a vacation for them. Our kids are more interested in the pool then the vacation.
I wasn't aware of the one in Westlake.

Well those were specially made a few years back by my brother Rick who owns a graphics business. They would be pretty pricey to re- produce.... I would say $300 +. This is all hand made. He designed the original logo on his computer and then had the marina grade plywood cut to size. Then he had to put it all vinyl lettering and graphics together. I owe him a lot of thanks, he has done so much for our club over the years.

Anyway. Plans are going well for the show. We are going to have a slot car racetrack set up in the hotel. Joe wants to have a race and call it the "Hanson 500" I wonder if we can mount that bobble head on one of the cars. LOL.....

Plans are progressing for the show nicely. Registrations are starting to flow in slowly but surely. Please keep us on your things to do list for August. Looks like the slot car guy isn't comming but Joe is working on some new plans to improve the cruise on Friday night.

Like last year, I'm asking for contributions for the Sweet Tea. We went through 14 gallons of the stuff last year. We had several folks contribute last year to make that happen.

Anyone that wishes to contribute can bring one of the following ingredients.

Vodka
Gin
Rum
Tequela
Triple Sec

A fifth is fine.

I'll supply the first round and the mixers as well as have a supply of the necessary ingredients on hand in case we run through what's brought.

For you guys here, try to get together on who is bringing what, so we don't duplicate anything.

I just booked my room on Sat, word to the wise, if you have yet to book your room make sure to call the local number(440-871-6000), not the 800 number.... I first called the 800 number and they told me there were no more rooms at the special rate and tried to soak me for $139.00 PER NIGHT.... Spoke to James Hinshaw at the MD show. He expressed an strong interest in attending the OH show BUT, he did not have enough sales last year to justify the trip this year.

He told me at the show that unless has enough orders to deliver to OH, he would not be attending. I find it unsettling that a stand-up guy like James has to make a business decision like this not to attend.

If we don't support little guys like James in this bad economy, he won't be around (in business) as a resource for us when things turn around.

If anyone out there needs any parts and is in a position to divert their order James Hinshaw's way, please do so. If you are attending the OH show, make sure he knows that you would like to pick up your parts there.

It sure would be a shame not to see him at the show.

Reservations at Holiday Inn still available, just made mine this morning by calling their local number as posted by Scott. :beers:

I just booked my room on Sat, word to the wise, if you have yet to book your room make sure to call the local number(440-871-6000), not the 800 number.... I first called the 800 number and they told me there were no more rooms at the special rate and tried to soak me for $139.00 PER NIGHT.... I promptly hung up on her and called the local number and booked a room with no trouble at all....

Just to re list the number for the hotel for anybody who may need it....

OK, I see New York has 5%. BUT Long Island isn't highlighted in green. I'm not sure why that is, but just to play it safe my late registration is going in the mail today... (I've had my hotel reservations for a few weeks now;))

You have plenty of time Mark. We were working on one the night before our show in Maryland at the show field in my trailer by way of flashlights and headlights!! The best part about it was...the owner of the car had no idea it was there and was going to be done for the show :thumbsup:

The Video BTW, aired this past TV season and has been getting great reviews as "our best show to date" Trying to get it on-line this week. I'll bring the DVD copy to the show.

Tonite is the cruise rehersal......we should have a few cars do the run. Saturday is the Solon Super Cruise. Chevelle is the featured car and the Northern Ohio Chevelle Club is the featured club. We have about 30 cars going...I am sure mark will post some pics.

I finally got the work I had to do on the Chevelle done and took it for a spin at a local cruise. Boy can a car get dirty sitting on jacks in the garage for several months. All thats left is to clean it up, get a new battery... or figure this charging thing out...blah blah blah, I'll just pack jumper cables.... did I go off on a tangent????

Anyway, clean it up, pack it, get a quick inspection... ahh maybe not... and leave Thursday night at midnight. Yes midnight, we are gonna drive through the night to get to the show for 9AM.... did I mention the kids are staying home???? So we are driving the Chevelle like 2 teenagers in high school;)

Now, Do I leave the child seats in the back?? or take them out for the trip??

Rob, can you still drive with one hand on the wheel. Oh, and ditch the car seats...they take up too much "teenage" space! You know........
