I've just bought a new Holley Street Avenger 670,
car started fine left it for about 1 week and now
all it do's is shoot flames outa the carb, yes i'v played with the timing and still will not start. The engine is a 400 potiac in a 69 chevelle.
6a heads p/p,crower streatbeast cam,roller rockers,balanced crank and pistons,holly blue pump
and other small mods. Whats up?

Well, the only way it can shoot flames is have an intake valve open when the cylinder fires. I'd check timing and make sure the timing chain hasn't jumped.

Also make sure you haven't crossed a wire by accident? 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

You could put your old carb. on then try it,to see if that's the problem.

Then you would know, it's probly in timing.Bring it up close to TDC ,both valvels open on no. 1.
