I'm still trying to get my Cowl Induction to work.
I've replaced the vacuum actuator pod...no luck.
It does open and close nicely now, engine on and off. But it doesn't open when I stomp on it.
When I bought the '71 is was working fine.
There is no inner door, removed by previous owner I
assumed. The vacuum line to the pod runs from a outlet on the intake manifold in front of the distributer. There is no check valve on the hose to the pod. There never was and it worked fine.
Should I add a check valve...? Why did it work without it...?
What should I do Chevelle fans..?

As far as I know, all the check valve does is let the door shut slower. I remember not having one, and the door would slam down when you started the car. It sould to me like it could be your vacumn source, or how does the door move when the vacumn pod is disconnected? Could it be binding? Just some thoughts.

Does the door open and close when you have the hood down? If not, it might sound like you have a pinched vacuum hose going to the vacuum pod. Ground up has the correct thickness vacuum line for this application. I just got it for my 70 Elky SS 396 with the cowl hood but have not had a chance to put it on yet.

Larry,

My hose kept getting pinched between the hood & cowl seal. Make sure your hose is routed up in the "V" provided in the hood. The 2 holes alongside the V are for a retaining strap to hold the hose in place. I just used a tie wrap passed thru it to hold my hose in place, works good.

Good luck.
