The engine acts like I fowled a plug. It makes little pops out the exhaust. I pulled the plugs and they looked good. My mind tells me its timing. I pulled the distributor a few times, and I know its on TDC. The guy I got the distributor from , had the wrong vac advance can on it. It was pulling about a 1/2 too much. Corrected that. Thought that may be it. Problem still there. Plug wires are in the right places. Starts right up. Idles a little rough, and makes the litle pops. Thats keeps tellin me timing...lol Centrifical weights sticking? Is the carb junk? Slight vac leak? I'll figure it out eventually, but I was hoping sombody could give me a short cut... smile.gif

I had this problem and it ended up being a bad plug wire. Parts stores sell plug wire testers that will help you find a bad wire.

I also ran into this myself, turns out i had bad plug wires and by the time i changed them i had fouled the plugs too. popping improved with just the wires but once i changed out the plugs it was gone.... you would be surprised how quickly plugs can foul.
