I just started a 66 elky that sat for years. we cleaned the fuel tank and put a filter inline but still filled my new edelbrock 750 full of crap from the fuel line ....rats!! now the carb just overflows with gas, I've pinched off the fuel lines a couple of times but that hasn't cleared it. how do I get this stuff out of my brand new carb? do I tear it down ...if so to what pouint and what do i do? will new gaskets or a rebuild kit be needed? I'm good at most things but hate carb work and auto tranny stuff!! what's the easiest way to fix this????

It sounds like there's some trash in the needle and seat, and you'll have to pop the top off the carb to fix it. Check those jets at the bottom of the float bowl while you're in there.

This seems to be epidemic all of a sudden, because you're the third person with the same problem.
