Gathering parts for my sleeper project. Plan to run a 15x10 5.5 BS steel wheel. Need to know what size tire i can get away with on my 70 Elk. Also anyone recommend a brand? I have no idea whats "the" tire to go to currently. Thanks

Same size & offset wheel on my '70 Malibu...I run a 295/65-15 M/T ET Street Radial tire.
I've tried most other street legal drag tires and like these the best.
In fact, I'm on my 3rd set...

McCreary's are cool, sometimes hard to find and relatively inexpensive. One drawback is that they "flat spot" after sitting for a while, especially in colder weather. Of course, after a few miles they soften up. Being an old-fashioned nylon cord tire, you shouldn't run radials up front. One big advantage, as compared to others, however, is their section width. They don't bulge off the rim as much which allows you to squeeze in more tread width. They're pretty soft and hook pretty good. Memory serves, they're called McCreary Road Stars.
