I am building toward the pro-touring category. 17" wheels all around.
I'm getting SC&C Stage two plus suspension kit and the rear end will be new from Currie.

FRONT:
I'd like to use my drum spindles with an aftermarket kit.

Wilwood - 4 piston, 12.19" rotor. that kit is $825.
KORE3 - C5 based, 12.8" rotor and I machine my drum hub. that kit is $621
SSBC - 4 piston, 13" rotor. That kit is $2,000.

REAR:
The rear end place can put whatever end style on it that I want. They offer a generic "explorer brake" included for about $500. But that won't match what I'mm be running up front. It has to look good too, right?

I am going to choose a Ford, big bearing, new style housing end for creater aftermarket flexibility.

Wilwood - 4 piston compliment to above is about $700 depending on end style
KORE3 - C5 based, 12" rotor, $1094
SSBC - single piston, 12" rotor, $1000

Conversation wise, KORE3 was the best. Not as much caliper "coolness" as the Wilwoods, but so be it.

What do you think?!?

Mike - We were like you and looked at the KORE3, Baer and Wilwood. Ultimately, we ordered our Wilwood kit from Frank and Lisa. Should see it in another week or two?

Great people to work with...

Got our Wilwood kit tonight and WOW does it look good. Frank at Prodigy (GPSuperStore) has been extremely patient with all my questions! I've got to get the body off so we can get the frame blasted and coated. We can't wait to see everything assembled...

hey there, I would go with the kore 3 stuff or should i say i plan on going Z06 brakes for my 454ss chevelle, and this is how i broke it down. First off the z06 brakes in terms of looks just kill wilwood or ssbc. Second they were R&D'd for a production vehicle by PBR. Third not just any production vehicle but the corvette z06 which is basically a detuned version of the lemans winning c6r. Bang for your buck i would say has to be the corvette brakes once again. You werent looking at the Z06 brakes which would be even cheaper. I can get front/rear Z06 brakes calipers from my local gm dealer for 224$ front and 159/208$ rear (one has the p.b. i assume), then just buy the hub and brackets from kore 3 ultimately saving a ****load of money and getting in my opinion way better quality/looking brakes.
i have the bought from wilwood, two different kits for the front, one to fit stock 15s and the other is the 12.19" rotor kit for 17s and above. One thing to consider when researching as well is the cost of replacing rotors and other components. Plus just keep in mind that the wilwood rotors have this really annoying/tedious safety wire design in order to secure the bolts from the hub to the rotor ( keep them from backing out). that system alone will prevent me from ever using wilwood again. Now the rear kit wasnt completely bolt on either, the spacers wouldnt allow me to properly alignt the caliper with the rotor, so i had to take the bracket off, use some washers in place of the spacers originally used. It was/ is a pain in the ass. plus the hardware that wilwood uses is all black oxide, which rusts... Dont know bout u but i dont like my expensive ass brake kits with greath looking brakes having this rusty crappy looking hardware, i think it makes them look cheap... So far everything i have had to replace has either been grade 8 or stainless.
So for this level of brakes i plan to use corvette brakes as long as gm stays in business, cuz beyond these z06 brakes the next level is brembo and stuff of equal quality and price, like 4k and above, unless u can find a set of used cts-v calipers and fab some bracketry up that would be another cool way to go. anyway sorry for the long ass post u guys. post some pics in a bit
