: cowl induction door always open Larry O May 24th, 03, 7:46 PM On my '71 454 the top flapper door for the cowl induction stays open all the time now.It doesn't close when I start the motor and it's open when I'm driving at low speeds. What should I check/replace first to correct this..? Larry Resq302 May 24th, 03, 9:49 PM sounds like the vacuum diaphram pod is shot. with the motor running, disconnect the vacuum line going to the pod and see if you have vacuum going to the pod. If you do, the pod is bad. Also you might want to check to see if the hinging on that binding anywhere?
