Okay, I sold my '66 Chevelle several months ago:( but I just got to thinking about some leftover parts that I had in storage at my Father's house in Texas. I've still got the original hood and 283 as well as a pair of 15x8 rally wheels sitting around. The motor had 100k on it and is currently disassembled but complete except for the intake, the hood is in good shape as far as I know. What would be a reasonable asking price for this stuff?

I don't know about your area, but I can give reference for mine. The 283 is worth scrap these days. I like them, as do a few others, but it's cheaper to build a 350. I'd take it if it were given to me. A perfect, non SS hood is probably worth 100-200. A pair of 15x8 rallys is probably $100, expecting that they'll need a clean-up and repaint.

the original motor might be worth more to the buyer of your chevelle

If it were me,(and seeings it is only a 283) I would call the buyer of your car and let him know the original engine was still available, and if he wanted it he could drop off a case of beer and take the engine.

The only problem with that scenario is that the parts are all in Texas but I and the buyer are in Iowa. I'll probably throw the wheels and hood on Craigslist in Dallas.
