I have a set of 034 angle plug bowties. They are unported and in good shape. Does anyone know a ballpark flow# at .500 for these heads. I believe they are 180cc intake runners. I am building a 355. 5.7 rods .125dome. I would like to get 500hp and I don't think it will happen with these heads. All help apreciated. CB

Out of the box not much better than any other factory head. Budget always plays a roll, but if you can get them pocket ported and a decent 3 angle valve job you should be able to hit your target HP number.
FWIW those heads on my 408 and later on my 406 with more compression made best power on the dyno at 35 degrees total timing.

I think they flow in the low 220cfm range stock. A friend of mine had a set that was fully ported that flowed in the 280cfm range. Good heads for what they are but thee are better heads out there. Since you already have them just do what Doug suggested and you`ll be good.

I have done further reaserch and they are around 220ish at .500. I am thinking I need atleast 250-260 to get what I want. I am looking into a price to get the port work right and then compare that investment against selling the bowties and using sportsmans. Thanks, CB

I changed from great working pocket ported 034's to untouched 200CC platinum Iron eagles and picked up a 1/2 second in the 1/4 on my 355.

FRYNTYR, I figured that would be the case. Even out of the box sportsmans would be better. CB

We ran a "stock" set of Phase II bowties on a mild 383 a couple years ago. Ran well.
Swapped on a set of AFR 180 heads and really saw very little gain...probably equal to the weight savings only.

The sportsmans would be better but if I was going to purchase new and was going to do iron heads for the $$$ savings, the platinum iron eagles flow awesome numbers out of the box. I believe the 200's I put on flow around 280+ @ .600 lift. around 274 @ .500.
Untouched Phase II's flow around 225 @ .500
