70chevellenc Jan 19th, 09, 10:28 PM We have had this car for almost 20 years and it hasnt been out since then. Finally got the motor and tranny ready for it. It is a true SS with build sheet, motor and trans long gone.

1badss396 Jan 19th, 09, 10:32 PM So what are the plans with this car?
70chevellenc Jan 19th, 09, 10:36 PM Get the motor and trans in it and basically brakes and radiator and drive it some. Start cleaning up the underside and maybe some body mounts. Car was sitting for about 5 years when we bought it and it has had one paint job and havent found any rust yet. I got one frame off know and have been working on it for about 5 years I think Im going to enjoy this one for awhile before taking it apart.
creeper72 Jan 20th, 09, 8:22 AM Very Nice. Have fun with it.
Chevelle_Nut Jan 20th, 09, 8:38 AM Is it inside or covered with snow now?
Chris R Jan 20th, 09, 1:07 PM Looks like its in pretty good condition.
70chevellenc Jan 20th, 09, 3:23 PM Its inside, I dont think the car has been wet in 25 years! lol not even to be washed. I havent found any rust yet, except for the battery tray and have the patch for the inner fender for it. So that will be done when I paint the engine bay and rebuild the front end. The car was order from a dealership less than 3 miles from home and has stayed in the area its whole life. My dad actually graduated with the guy that ordered it.
Freddy Mercado Jan 20th, 09, 9:41 PM That is a very nice looking car!! Wish it were mine.
Andy69 Jan 20th, 09, 9:50 PM cool!

Racing Jan 21st, 09, 8:41 PM Nice find!
70chevellenc Jan 21st, 09, 11:18 PM Randy im in town, the cars are at dads. I have a 70 red on red 4spd build sheet car that I have been working on for about 5 years know the others are dads, but I have to work on all of them. lol You can say its a joint adventure. Ill try to get some pics of the inside this weekend, It needs a headliner and I messed up the door panel getting the build sheet off of it. It has the original seat covers except the front bottom and carpet aint that bad. Its a auto on the column with bench seat with idiot lights. I have a 70 monte with green console, tilt column and full set of gauges that I might put in it, but its too original as say the interior to mess with I think. I prefer bench seat than bucket, I feel its more comfortable to drive. I was lucky enough to buy a whole set of interior out of a 70 malibu that had 30,000 miles on it on ebay and have most of the small interior stuff that is like brand new. I was just under 18 when dad bought the car and did my first donut on this car.lol So we are going to fix and drive the crap out of it for awhile before we get too serious about paint and all.
DaleM Jan 22nd, 09, 12:33 AM We have had this car for almost 20 years and it hasnt been out since then. And you just found it?
70chevellenc Jan 22nd, 09, 1:40 PM It has been tucked away for a long time and if you had seen all the stuff on top and around it you could believe it had been forgotten about. lol
70chevellenc May 6th, 09, 11:15 PM I know Im bringing this one back from the dead, but engine is built (I got to build my first motor and it was a big block!)and the car is alive after some 25 odd years of being tucked away from people. Here is a couple of pics, sorry for the quality but they are with my camera phone. Time to drive it and enjoy it for awhile.

I hope to see it sometime this summer. ;)
Trophyman May 7th, 09, 2:17 PM Golf it isnt for sale, but appreciate the offer.
Everything is for sale. Everything and everybody has their price. If a guy walked up to you and offered $100 Million, the car would be for sale. Hmmmmmmmm.......
Will you take $90 Million? LOL :D
mmurphy77 May 7th, 09, 2:48 PM Is it original paint? The reason I ask is apparently the Arlington built cars came with the square-edged stripes like this has. Is it an Arlington car?
70chevellenc May 8th, 09, 8:06 AM It is an Arlington built car, It has been painted one time before in the late 70's early 80's. Actually a 15 year old kid at the time painted, he runs a body shop know. He made a stencil of the stripes before he repainted it. The jams and under the trunk is original. Actually I had seen other stripes on cars and was noticing the other 2 Arlington built cars we have and they have been painted over time and the stripes are not as square as this one. Was not aware of the differences in stripes.
And yes pretty much anything is for sale for 90 million. lol.!
70chevellenc Dec 11th, 10, 8:10 PM Well im bringing the post back from the dead, its been well over a year and the car has finally made it to the body shop. We said we were going to drive the car some, but had a chance to get it to a person that actually likes working on old cars and is very, very picky. Here is a couple of the car in the shop. The motor, trans, and all the drive train has been gone through. Still needs some few odds and and ends done under the hood.

Uppster Dec 13th, 10, 7:44 AM Love to hear about a car with a history.
70chevellenc Dec 13th, 10, 9:08 AM Yeah, this was the first car the old man bought that I was actually old enough to be able to know what was going on, and we didnt find the build sheet for about 5 years after we bought the car, and just found a second one under the seat, not much left to it, but its for the car. Its kinda special to us for the color and it was order right down the road.
pink panther Dec 13th, 10, 5:55 PM what a cool find a 70 chevelle ur a lucky guy. i'am sure u gonna have fun with it. happy motoring

This is a great thread, congratulations on the car and your relationship with your Dad. My cousin's '55 was painted by a 15 year from your area who used a tobacco barn for his spray room. The shoebox was painted red with a yellow body stripe. The paint still looks as thick as a nickel after all these years.
Chris R Dec 19th, 10, 9:08 PM Glad to see your making progress on this.
1ATony Dec 20th, 10, 4:25 PM The car looks like it's in pretty good shape. It's good to see another one saved.
70chevellenc Aug 13th, 11, 8:56 PM It's been awhile since I checked in and have a few updates. The car is painted, what a good feeling. Actually both cars are painted. Its been a very busy year and my father has been sick and I really think the love for these cars and the time he has spent running back and forth between them has keep him going. Here is a couple of pics of the green car, and yes it does have a repop dash in it. I have the original and it will be restored so you purist can breath easier. The red car is his car he ordered in 1970, when we found it, a friend of mine had it and it was being restored, dash gone, motor and trans. But the body was in pretty good shape. I stated earlier the green car was arlington and its a actually atlanta(brain fart) and the red car is atlanta too. Both were bought from same dealership in benson. They are not perfect cars and will be drove just like my dad did when he was younger, hard and fast and we plan on enjoying them.

Freddy Mercado Aug 15th, 11, 7:21 PM Awesome looking 70 Chevelles!!!
chevygod Aug 15th, 11, 7:47 PM What is the color of red on the, uh, red car...
Man, that sounded stupid....
Anyway, color code or whatever. It looks much more intense than most red Chevelles do.
Thank you,
Tom
Ethan1 Aug 15th, 11, 8:38 PM Nice job!!
gristle06 Aug 15th, 11, 9:18 PM The picture of the little boy standing next to the front fender with the SS 396 in full view looks like it ought to be on the front of a magazine or something .... great thread and great story all around.
70chevellenc Aug 16th, 11, 2:39 PM Thanks guys, Chevygod, believe it or not I think it:yes: was taken straight out a book from 1971 with the paint codes on it for a 1970 chevelle(I believe, Ill ask him). Also, It might be because the primer is tinted the same color as the car. Its going to be a driver so rock chips want show as bad.
b-man Aug 16th, 11, 3:34 PM Enjoy!!!!
Alwhite00 Aug 16th, 11, 10:00 PM Nice looking cars, I am not usually a green guy but that looks damn nice with the white stripes, Great job.

Daytona Yellow SS396 Aug 17th, 11, 12:27 AM Sweat!
chrispicide35 Aug 21st, 11, 4:44 AM Anyone else besides me curious as to why the green car found in the barn has amber lenses in the front when they should be clear. maybe they were changed sometime in its life, or the assembly plant may have run out of clear lenses and stuck amber in.
70chevellenc Aug 21st, 11, 10:32 AM It has the wrong bumper(not original bumper) on it, it had been in an accident where the car got side swipe in the early 70's and the front fender door and bumper was replaced. We cut a side of a barn to get the car out after it was put in there in the early 80's. Then it was put in our garage around 93 and we just got it out about a year ago. The man who order the car graduated with my father. I also have the build sheet for the car, I messed the door panel removing it, about 3 years ago, or we would be using the original door panels for the car. Backseat original and the front bench the bottom has been replaced.
70chevellenc Nov 11th, 11, 8:07 AM Okay, Im bringing this thread back yet again. Here is a couple of pics of the red car back together. (Yes it has amber lenses, we have the clear ones for it, we changed the light sockets from a malibu and were in the process of finding a set of nos clear ones. Car isn't perfect, really needs a repaint, stripes aren't just right, but we are going to drive the crap out of it so. Just for a tease here is some more of the green car, did fiind a green top, and its going on in a few months. This is a build sheet car and is really going to be close to original as we can get.( but still a driver)
SOM2001SS Nov 11th, 11, 8:37 AM Both look awesome! I'm so tired of seeing red/black stripe 70 Chevelles, but the white stripes, interior and top make it completely different and I LOVE it!
70chevellenc Nov 11th, 11, 8:39 AM thanks,I agree, so many cars have had their color changed on them. These were born like this and will stay this way. Older I get the more I appreciate being just a little different.:D
shadowgray396 Nov 11th, 11, 10:01 AM Very nice pair of Chevelles, I have always like the green chevelles.
lonewolf867 Nov 19th, 11, 8:55 PM GREAT FIND !! Hope you have fun with it!
TerryAT Nov 19th, 11, 9:19 PM Sweat!
Yep, Probably a lot of sweat went into these fine Chevelles!:D
69chevelless3964speed Nov 19th, 11, 11:11 PM Wow, just found this thread, great finds love the cars. A friend of mine has a 70 ss that he bought in the late 70s when he was a kid and it looks just like your green car except it has buckets and th400. Always liked the green ones.
