I seem to have a problem with my 750 Mech. Sec carb on my 396. After the car warms up it will stumble and stall while in drive when I stop. To keep the car running at a stop I put it in neutral and it idles at 1500 or higher rpms. When it does stall I have to hold the pedal to the floor to get it to crank. It has only started doing this for the last two weeks. Prior to this it would still flood every now and then and I would have to start it as mentioned above.

sounds like you've got floats to high ... or the the needles are'nt seating anylonger.. check floats first smile.gif

Check your floats and jets, it could be a stuck float, if thats the case just give your carb a good wack on the float chamber. it could also be a blown power valve.

Thanks guys however, I have decided to stop buying used carbs and trying to make them work. I have just purchased a 750 Mech Sec Mighty Demon. Hope it works out. Please check out my Chevelles web site.
