Does anyone know the correct positions of the cam bearings in a 427 BBC? I am using a DuraBond kit and there are three different outer diameters in the set.

Thanks for the help-
Tony

Usually the box will say what number bearing goes in what position. The smaller diameters go in the middle and the bigger ones go on the outside. (DUH) Check the box and the beearings. They should be marked. #1 is the front and #5 is rear. Hope this helps.

Gilbert,I was wondering how would the large bearing journal on the end of the cam pass thru the small cam bearing in the middle of the block?

ch 12-1 #1
Ch 12-2 #2 and #5
ch 12-3 #3 and #4

I install #5 first and go towards the front

Tony,

Here are the OD dimensions of the individual cam bearings for BBC:

Position 1 2.1395/2.1405"
Position 2 & 5 2.1295/2.1305"
Position 3 & 4 2.1195/2.1205"

Also, position #1 is a little shorter than all of the others, at 0.8700". All the others have max length of 0.9900"

Hope this helps.
