: Confused about 67 wheel colors..

I've been looking at the original 1967 Chevelle sales brochure (I think there's a pdf of it online somewhere) and I don't think I've seen one picture in that which had the wheels painted Argent Silver/Gray... Mostly they were painted either body color or black ..for both disc brake caps and wire wheel covers... Are these wheels different than the Rallys somehow?? Did the sales brochure reflect one thing and reality was another (they had silver wheels in production)??. I'm tinkering with the idea of putting the wheel and tire combo back to a 'more stock' condition, and I'm wondering if the Argent Silver is really the way to go or not.....

I'm pretty sure my Malibu is a Sport Coupe, 283, drum brake car.. wondering if any of those came with the plain jane poverty caps and wheels or if they typically had wheel covers on them....

I got the Malibu only a few months ago, and am new to Chevelle jargon...so I apologize for my ignorance in advance... :)

Depends on wheel covers- full wheel covers had black wheels, dog dish body color wheels, ralleys were silver

Only disc brake cars had the argent silver ralley wheels. I would think that the dog dish hub cap wheels would be body color. Not real sure on the complete wheel covers.

Ah, I see... however, on page 15 of the old sales brochere, the disk brake option is shown... they show what appears to be a black rally wheel with the disc brake cap on it and a narrow whitewall tire.... Again, perhaps this was for the sales literature instead of what actually was put in the showroom back then?????

if you look at the early 67 Corvette sales brochure and pictures it shows the same the rallys being black. I bet it was a pre-production change

The pre-production Disk Brake Wheel (the name 'Rally Wheel' was not used until '68) was illustrated in the '67 brochure by using the already in production Pontiac Rally I wheel, along with a prototype disk brake flat cap.
