Hi guys
Just wanted some opinions of this ad. I'm going to look at it this week. I'm not familiar with the Elky's so rough ideas on value and what to look for would be appreciated.

1969 El Camino SS 396, no motor or tranny. Still has 12 bolt posi, front disc brakes, big block hood, complete interior with buckets, ss gauge pkg and factory tach. Body rusty, good floors and frame, needs complete restoration.
$1700

Thanks, Steve. :beers:

Is that $1,700. U.S. dollars?
It should be worth that in parts.

Just remember that it costs the same to restore an El Camino as a Chevelle but they are only worth half as much.

It's $1700 Canadian so about $1400 US. In this economy I could probably bargain the guy down to $1300-$1400CDN($1050-1150US). I haven't seen it yet because the tranny just crapped out this week in my truck. Unless it's really solid it would probably just be a parts car. I'm thinking if I run my LS6 on the street I'd rather run a non original 12 bolt posi with 3:73 and store the numbers matching 3:31. I'm tight for cash and was hoping the other parts like the BB hood and factory gauge dash would help to offset the cost by selling them to guys who can use them. Interestingly I think the El Camino is the same one I walked past almost everyday when I was a kid. It was an original Monaco Orange SS 396/black interior that was protected by a large dog in a backyard on blocks. It had a lot of grey primer and the engine/tranny were gone even then 20-25 years ago. If it is an original Monaco car I'll get it either way unless it's totally trashed. Is there anything in regards to the trim tag that I should or could look for that would identify what 396 it came with originally? What tach redline would each 396 have for that year Elky? Would it have a buildsheet? I guess I could check with GM of Canada through George at V.V.S. but it's like $70 and now I need an E4OD($$$$$$$$$)tranny!!
Thanks, Steve.

Can anyone help with trim tag info or tach redlines to determine what motor it may have had? Any idea on value of the parts or the car as a hole? Will a 69 Elky 12 bolt bolt into my 70 SS?
Thanks, Steve.
