I am looking for the cheapest 110 welder that I can find to do some sheet metal replacement on lower quarters, around fuel tank, under rear window, and floor pan on my '66 El Co.

Beginner level welding background.

:beers:

Thank you

Hobart Handler 135/140 $500-600 or Millermatic.

Both of these welders have the capability of using Argon gas instead of simply flux core wire. Many on this site have/use these welders. there is a new category on this site called TOOLS AND SHOPS.... lot's more info there.

Not trying to sound like an @$$hole, but use the search function for this one. It has been discussed multiple times as recently as the last week or two.

I about stole the 110 mig I got from northern tool. Was on sale, paid under 350, 35 bucks shipping, 3 year warranty and they included a solar auto darkening, fully adjustable welding helmet for free along with replacement lenses. Its set up for gas right now, I just need to grab the bottle and fill her up.

I know the hobarts and the millers and all this has been discussed but this mig will do everything I need and then some and the price was right.

Miller 140 Autoset.... I wouldn't trade mine for the world. Hellen Keller could weld with this thing.... By far my favorite piece of equip. in my garage.

Lincoln from any of the tool supply stores such as lowes, sears, OSH or home depot and the likes. I can use both flux core and argon/co2 gas.

I bought a 110 from Sears, it is a sears brand made by lincoln and have welded everything with it.

I don't think any of the name brand welders will disappoint you.
Lincoln, Miller, or Hobart.

The Autoset by far is the best I have used in a long time. Buy it from a welding shop, it will be better knowing what to do and what you need.

I have a few welders and that will be by next welder I buy.

I'll second the Miller 140C... although I do not have autoset - I didn't see it as a feature I'd use (always fine tuning).

Lincoln's, Miller's and Hobart's won't be the cheapest, but there is nothing more frustrating to a beginning welder than poor quality equipment. Don't waste your time or money on anything less. If you shop around, you should be able to get into one of the big three for around $500.

The Miller 140C is by far the best in my opinion. We use them for all of our multi-site welding at work and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I agree. I tried the cheap route (under amped) and just got frustrated. You want to get a 135 at least. The 110 amp will disappoint. I use a Lincoln 135
set up for flux core and love it. :)

I have the Millermatic 135 and love it. bought mine used for $275. All it was missing was the regulator.

I'm using a Hobart Handler 140 from TSC. I had never welded inmy life, but I managed to get the hang of it pretty quick with this machine (gas, not flux core).
