What Grinds my Gears is when i tune into BJ on Speed and see the same 60s corvettes, 50s cars, one or 2 muscle cars then they have a ton of shelbys go through. don't u get bored of this? i wish they should show more variety. maybe some european sportscars? what about some avg priced cars ? i read the schedule for what cars are going threw and some look interesting but never shown. anyone else get bored of BJ after awhile?

My thought, exactly! Seems just the same as previous years. Lucky for me, I TIVO it, and can run past the endless commericals.

I do enjoy the comments of Steve Magnatta (sp?).

Go see the BJ in person, you will get tired before you see all they have. Awesome experience

To be honest all the classic cars you do see do go for a lot, and when a euro car does come, like that BMW last night that said they build cost 70,000 it went for like 23,000 so I dont think people go to BJ to buy the euro cars like that.

I have a hard time watching when the foreign cars and the pre-50's stuff comes on. I can't get excited about them.

Yep just like EVERYTHING else successful on TV, they KILL IT with commercials. Happens on ALL channels, that network finally gets a popular hit show and WHAMMO they put it in the grave with way to many commericals. Used to be about 3/4 auction and 1/4 commercials, now it's about 40% auction, 60% commercials. :boring: (You can see ALL of the cars run continuously with no commercials via streaming on Speed.com!) Seems like a year or two they would even did "extended coverage" with fewer commercial interruptions during the broadcast. THAT went out the window now that it's gotten popular in the mainstream. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The market has changed with pricing so the willing sellers has changed as well. Folks who paid $150k for various muscle cars over the last couple years now know they won't get $100k for that same car so they aren't there this year. I've never seen more "odd" and less desirable cars before than this year. As long as Craig Jackson insists on a 100% no reserve auction this kind of "offering" will be all he can present.

I'm SHOCKED what that 60 Dodge and Desoto brought awhile ago. MAN those "rolling parade floats" were VERY expensive cars in the past and extemely expensive to restore and they didn't even bring half what they've brought in the past! If I'da been there you can betcha azz I'da brought that New Yorker home for only $38K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B-J has become the "playboy" and "muscle car chitkicker" market over the last 5-6 years. The eurotrash collectors think they are better than that and avoid such places thus the sellers no longer use B-J for such offerings. GOOD RIDANCE if you ask me. I :boring: at ol Jags and English countryside racers... :D:D:D

Hey it's mid January and is about 15 degrees outside, whatelse we gonna do right now??? :beers:

I hope all the people that list their cars with BJ realize how much that they SUCK Wind and go to different places to sell there cars and let BJ go out of business.
This BS with a no reserve is a total joke, I bet over 1/2 of the cars the seller buys them back.
All the hype of BJ in the past was good now all good things will come to an end when they start taking their cars other auction houses to sell.

I really enjoy it and this time of year, I watch TV. I hate missing the cars during commercials and last nite I watched tv along with the internet video. couldn't believe how many cars they skipped. Several Chevelles and Camaros. Obviously they have more lower priced cars and #2 cars this year, as was said, a lot of guys must be reluctant to offer their cars during these times.

Did anyone see Rusty Wallace trying to pimp that NASCAR chopper last nite? They had him talk it up twice, and they were begging for bids. Still only got $21 k. That was the story on a lot of cars. They begged and ridiculed the bidders and still didn't get big money.

They could sure make it a great show if they delayed the telecast by a day and edited the show so they could show all the cars and not waste time looking out the back door, at the mountains, or at the pedal cars. They could cut out all the views of the guys on the podium, too!!

I have been looking at quite a few, and what I am seeing is they are coming very close in line to the Manheim Gold Book values for Excellent condition unless they are not quite that good then they are falling between good to excellent. So in a bunch of case it seems as though the Barrett Jackson name is not pulling out that extra like in the past, that people are sticking to actual values in a lot of cases. Where last yearthey all seemed to be show condition pricing they are now getting excellent pricing.

You're not watching on right night. The first night of speed coverage had numerous cars under $20,000. A few MG's, Austins and even a Bentley. As the auction progresses the cars become more and more expensive. I imagine B.J. has found their market in the high end cars are looking for American Steel otherwise they would carry more high end foreign cars.
I look forward to seeing what Ron Pratt buys this year...Apparently the dweeb in the Ferrari garb lost all his money and can't afford to make an ass of himself anymore. You know the one...he was the guy that looked like something a Ferrari Marketing Exec threw up! I bet he was even wearing Ferrari socks and probably never drove one!
So far the prices I've seen seem to be a bit lower than last year. Maybe the market will return so us normal guys can continue to enjoy the hobby!

I saw an extremely nice 71 Buick GSX 455 stage I clone sell for $21,000. I about fell off my seat when that car sold. Also saw a real 70 GSX ragtop go for some serious $$$.

I don't care about the hype. I just like seeing what rolls across the stage.

I've never watched it for more than a few seconds to see the car, and current bid. The sound of auctioneers has always been painful.

If someone is willing to pay to register the car, transport the car, and then pay 10% buyer premium on top, he never should have brought it knowing the gamble of no reserve. That could cost many thousands of dollars to do.

As a matter of fact I do know quite of few people that have had to buy their cars back. And yes it did cost them a large amount to do, but they were not willing to let them go for peanuts. Also again they will never use BJ again. As you can see the sales for BJ was crap this year and I almost bet it will keep on sliding down hill.

It's too bad they can't condense the auctions and show everything rolling across. I try watching tv and the computer during commercials, but that's a lot of trouble. If I see one more Mustang I think I will puke, anyway.

The bids are so all over the place that I think the buyers are either stupid, or some of the cars must be real junk. LS Chevelles, in the $50-$60 range while pro streets go for $100.
69 Z28's for $60-$80, while a late model Vette goes over $100. Two beautiful 55 Pontiac converts under $40 each, the red/white one looked fantastic. A perfect gold gto under $40 the other day. Numbers match, 4 spd. Beautiful car, then a blue modified GTO movie car does $60! Hemi Roadrunner $60 I think, may have been lower.
Richard Petty fake Superbird, $500K. Looks like a lot of guys with more money then sense. That might have been Ron Pratt and he does have more money, but obviously he has some intelligence, also!

I too like the fact that there are usually some good auctions that support charities. I remember a while back when that guy Ron Pratt (sp?) with the endless pockets seemed to buy up all the charity pieces and did it for some incredible dough (he spent well over 7 figures). Bought the first 2 new Shelby's and Carrol's Super Snake. Didn't he buy the Futureliner too for $4 million?

That seems to be the trend there the last couple of years....no market for them. Few people don't want "Original" any longer and want an 'older' car with new "appliances."

WE watch it mainly for the cars, but on Saturday the bidding does get heated. WE love it, but to each their own.

Reggie did bid on his own COPO Camaro to push it to $300k. It went for $300 and he acted like it still wasn't enough money. He quit bidding at $290, I think he was afraid he would end up buying his own car. I guess he remembered he would also have to pay $30k plus $500, and he would have to haul the car back home. I guess he realized he would be out $40 thou or so and have no $ coming in. He is one guy who should have known the market was weak right now. I'm surprised he offered the COPO. Could have been he needed a couple hundred thou.
