A week ago a friend of mine and i Adhusted the rocker arms, and to turn the engine to put each piston at TDC we pulled the plugs (they were new. we adjusted the rocker arms and put it all back together and i started the car and i have a miss-fire. plugs are good, wires look good but my firend thinks it might be them anyway. anyone have any ideas? the car was running fine before that and we didnt touch the distributor. any ideas would help. thanks.

i am thinkimg that you accidentaly switch some wires and now your firing order is off. That would be the easiest and cheapest place to start

i replaced the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs... and its gotten better but it still feels like it his a slight miss. the car hesitates a lot from a stop. the plugs are gapped correctly, and the timeing is fine too. Could it be the coil? Its has HEI.

Ernest. You say the plugs are ok. No offence, but did you look for a crack in the porcelain?

You say it was running fine, then the only thing you did was adjust valves. Then you had a miss. I'd guess at least one valve is too tight. Remove one plug wire at a time with it idling and locate the cylinder that's missing. (TIP, Pull them all off, then just barely reseat them and use insulated pliers to test) Reset the valves on that cylinder. Push ALL plug wires on tight. Should fix it.

i went through and checked the valves...they all seem ok, and they all move with the covers off. As for the plugs i have gone through 2 sets, all apear in good shape. I cant think of anything else that might be wrong but its still doing the problem. I have had to turn the idle up to get it to stay running, and as soon as its under load it bogs or feels like it misses. any other suggestions?

my guess is that you need to run through the valves again they are not adjusted correctly :D
