Hello everyone. I ordered a Torque Converter for my Turbo 400 and went to install it yesterday and found out that the center shaft(I'm not sure what it is called exactly) on the torque converter where it goes into the engine will not fit. It is about 1/4 inch too big. How is this possible?? I ordered it for a 400. Is there a difference? I know there is a difference in small or large bolt patterns but is there another difference???? Please help me out. I need to get another converter quick. Thanks guys.

Goes into the engine? Maybe you meant transmission. I too have heard that they are all pretty much the same. If it were me I would double check the part number I got, and double check the front seal on the trans. Am I understanding your question correctly? If not, please clarify and we will try our best! Good Luck,
Brandon

Well, after many phone calls and looking at it I found that there is actually a bearing in the crank that was there for a 4 speed which it used to be. I need to take that out and it will slide right into place.

Thats the piolet bearing. the easiest way ive forund to remove it is get 5 pieces of papertowl, soak em in water then take a extension and press them into the cavity, then use a big hammer to compress them. Works every time and is cleaner then greese. might take all 5 sheets of paper towl but it works.
