Despite new weatherstripping I get quite a bit of wind noise from the top of both doors and, to a lesser extent, along the A pillars. Sound (no pun intended) familiar to anyone? Bad weatherstripping? Maybe something common to '70 models? Possible fix?

Thanks.

If you are sure that the doors are aligned correctly, bend the frame back into shape. Grab it at the top, put your knee at the bottom of the window and pull - HARD! I haven't done it myself, but plenty of people in this forum have. Do a search, pretty sure that JamesXXL has described the procedure in a post. Try this one.

You may have gaps at the weatherstrip. Use paper as a feeler gauge. If you can easily pull out the paper, try inserting weatherstrip adhesive under the weatherstrip to push close the gap.

My 70 SS 454 Sta. WGN. had wind noise, Try a dollal bill on the three sides. If it pulls out E-Z. I moved the striker in a bout 1/32" then test again. If a dollar bill pulls out of --- THREE SIDES--- I would play with the striker. That is how I made the noise go away in my wagon........
Also,,,,, If you have a hollow spot in the weather stripping, Or a low corner. I cut up old credit cards or hotel keys in strips about 1/4" wide and put the strips between the stripping and the door.
Cut them about 3/32" smaller than the weather strip, Then the strip will go over the edge of the card. You will not see the card and the weather strip will hold it in place. Its a good way to play and test,,,,,,, THEN GLUE ! If you need to, I did not glue mine.......

Hey Bob,

Now that you are a fully retired old fart, is lurking on TC all that you have to do with your time?

When you say "sides" I assume you are referring to the top of the door, to the rear of the window glass and along tha A pillar?
