Hey out there, here's a little problem I am having and hopefully someone out there can help me. I am running a 67 malibu with a 350 and a pg. My problem is that when I start to go and want some get-up, the car barely goes, it doesn't rev up high, just very slugish. Then all of a suden around 30 or 40 km's she goes. I have been told many different things from some guys around here but was wondering if anyone else had an idea. Here are some of the posibles i was told, could be a seal in the tranny, distributer related(cap, bushings, etc.), and carb.
Anyone else have an idea.

Does the engine rev ok in park? Is there black smoke coming out of the exhaust? When was the last time you tuned it up?

put some low rear end gears in it power glides only have two gears so it will take alot of torque to get the car rolling and with a small block they won't make decent torque untill they get revving

It reves fine in park. There's no smoke or anything out of the ordinary. I just bought this car about 2 weeks before i had to park her for the winter, so I really haven't had any time to do much of anything to it.

Sounds to me like you are starting in second gear. Is there a downshift when you hit the throttle once driving above 40 ?

Its starting in first, i can feel the shift into second and I can feel the downshift when stopping. I wanna try and do a feather start when the snow is all gone and see if that makes a difference. Maybe a lack of fuel issue. Anyone else think maybe?

Do all the easy stuff first. Oil change, and filter, air filter, plugs, points/condensor, new dist cap, and new sparkplug wires.
See if that makes any difference. Does the sound of the engine change when you step on it? Like it's trying to go but can't?
