What will cause the exaust to smell like gas all the time. Like inside it is fine you dont smell like gas but when you open the door you can smell it good. The car is running really well its a 454 with a 770 avenger and the plugs are a nice color. It just smells like gas when your behind it! what are some causes? spark not firing at the right time

Check your fuel lines. What's your oil smell like? Otherwise, if you're not running rich(you're sure?? ... check your pipes for soot ;) ) -- You're runnin' a 454! Thing lives on gas.

Make sure your lines are good!! Don't want to mess with that if the smell is strong!

If you have a nice lopey cam in your 454 it will pump some gas out the pipes at idle
