I have a 72 malibu that has the original numbers matching 350 . Original A/c car with factory power disk brakes.I have the protecto plate, somee original GM paperwork, note to the original buyer from the salesman and the original dealership.
Has a solid body and was restored about a year ago.
I am considering putting a cage in it and bracket racing it. So I wanted to know if any of this stuff I thought was so cool when I bought it makes it worth any more money than any other malibu?
I have not kept it original, but have all the stuff to go back.
I know its not worth big money , just curious what you think.
I will try a pic

Nice looking car. Original paperwork, protect o plates, receipts, etc. really dont add much value unless, the vehicle was a SS, with a build sheet,or your proving actual mileage, or the car is an original unmolested survivor. I would like to see an underside shot, and a engine pic, but I would venture to say 12-15k in this market.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure I was not discounting the car too much, just because it was a MALIBU. I would be happy with that value. Thats about what I got in it not counting my labor of course. Not much is moving in this market in my area anyway.
Right now it has a BB in it and a 12 bolt. The orig SB is on a stand and has had a cam change etc. It was good for 13.20 in 1/4. Underside is nice and I documented the bodywork.Stipped all the way and replaced 3 small patches with new sheet metal. I will work on some more pics.

I to had a 70 number matching 350 Malibu in excellent shape. Like stated above that don't count for much unless the car is rare which 350 Malibu's aren't. I'm like you as I am doing what I want with the car to enjoy and drive it. I didn't even save my original motor as I sold it to raise cash for the big block. My car also has a protectoplate with it. Enjoy it and have fun as that is what Chevelles were made for.

I agree. A V8 malibu more than likely is a 350 or 307 which makes no difference. Price-wise, somewhere in the 11-15k range. What's great about it though:
1) it doesn't cost an arm and a leg (not an SS so it'll sell "easier" because of a lower price;
2)you can do what you want to it and not really devalue it that much.
3)people always want that great A body style regardless.
That's what is so great about a non-SS numbers matching car- it doesn't hold the value as would a true SS or somewhat rarer car.
Numbers matching is over-rated anyways- how often do you really know or have documentation to the truth anyways?
Putting in a cage and modifying the interior could make or break a sale later (most don't care either way)- but it can scare some folks away.
Enjoy it for what it is- a great looking chevelle.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice.
Numbers matching has never been important to me as far as ownership, but thats all I hear some guys that are car shopping talk about. So I thought I would ask about it. Just wanted to make sure I was not doing something stupid.
Friend of mine cut up a 70 Mustang , I mean really raped it into a race car and then found out it was a very rare car and would have been worth some money.
