I have a 72 and the rear view mirrow has a map light in the bottom of it the wire runns up through the mirror. How rare is this? I would like to keep it but it is mostly black and is in bad shape and i can't find a quailty replacment for it what to do? Any suggestions.
Thanks

You CAN clean them up a lot. Try it - take it out and see how easy it will be to clean up the silver on the post and the black on the surround. If your mirror is bad - buy a replacement mirror (tons of them online - ebay or suppliers) and pop it in.
I have one with a maplight - not the best light, but it's a cool option piece. Not worth a ton though - I bought mine intact and restored on ebay for about $60.

I agree, definately keep it and intact-its worth putting in a new mirror-about $40.00 installed. Does it have the rest of the ZJ9 lighting package?

If the mirror silver is bad you can get it redone. I have had 3 of them redone by this lady and she does a great job. I did it a few years ago and back then it was $25.00 a mirror.
