I’m looking for guidance and clarification on spindle selection for our ’72 Chevelle. I’ve done quite a bit of research, but I’m a little confused by the options and want to make sure it integrates with our Wilwood brake selection. The goal is to take advantage of the better spindle geometries for better handling without over extending our budget.

For the point of this discussion, the AFX seem to be the pinnacle of spindles, but for what we want to accomplish, they are a bit overkill. We already have hubs with the Wilwood kit and don’t need the speed sensor. If we were to do it over, the AFX spindle with C5 calipers would have been a great way to go.

I’ve had recommendations for the SpeedTech, CCP, and Heidts spindles. Here’s where I need the clarification;

1 – Do all of the aftermarket/new style spindles require aftermarket UCAs?
2 – Would the SC&C Stage 1 or Stage 2 kits be compatible with the aftermarket spindles listed?
3 – How do I know if the improved spindles (ie. SpeedTech or Heidts) are bolt-on compatible with the Wilwood calipers?
4 – What other spindle/UCA combinations should we be considering?

Ok... I think I've figured out part of the equation.

1 - It looks like all of the aftermarket/new style "tall" spindles require a new UCA.
2 - If I use the taller spindles (RideTech, Heidts, etc.), they will use the standard height ball joints with the new UCA.

It's a start...
