I am redoing the front supension and steering componets this winter. The steering box was previously painted black, so I just got though stripping it using 3M stripper and just finished washing the stripper off. The cast iron flash rusted a little. Is there a good way to remove this rust? I plan to leave it bare and just coat it with Boeschield. Thanks.

Try 'The Must For Rust' if it's flash surface rust. I used it on an aluminum intake that must have had some iron in it. It removed the rust and it hasn't returned. It has an inhibitor in it to keep the metal from rusting again. Just make sure you rinse it thoroughly with water after treating the metal.

It's made by the company that makes Krudd Cutter. Don't know if you've heard of it but it's great for cleaning siding and decks. Especially removing the bugs guts from spiders.

I orginally painted mine black and hated it; too boring and not enough contrast. Ended up sandblasted it, using cast-iron paint while keeping some of the original pieces natural finish; all clear coated and the contrast looks awesome. Not sure if I can post picture but will try. If it doesn't work; email me and I'll send you pictures....

Here's the link to see my photos; there's one on the steering box refinished...
