: '68 Camino fuel tank venting

My San Jose-built 307 exhibits pressure build-up as many others have described. My cap is a locking, non-vented Stant which recently replaced an older metal version. Upon visual inspection and manual reference, the only line from my fuel sending unit is the delivery line, no vent lines to be found.

So, should the vented cap resolve my issue (available at the local GM wholesale house for $10) or should I continue to search for tank vent line? Prior TC posts only seem to address Chevelle issues, not Camino issue, which have slightly different configurations, right?

Thanks for any helpful advice.

YEP - I put a 68 tank in my elky while the original was repaired. I went round & round before I figured to change the cap. This was before the internet & Team Chevelle. I still don't understand why the pressure builds http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif Parts store should have a vented cap for you.

I think sloshing gas likes to turn to fumes and build pressure. If you ever noticed those plastic gas cans get pressure built up in them. Pop the lid to release the pressure, and cap it back up. If you shake it a little, the pressure comes back! I think the sloshing gas in a cars tank does the same thing. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
