My engine runs pretty good most of the time, no major problems sounds real good but when I start it up every time there is a certain amount of black junk that comes out the pipes. It pumps out a bit of white smoke for a while but it always stops after like 2minutes or so and that is about when the black stuff stops coming out, is this indicative of a larger problem or is just normal junk? I have a 350, 4bbl edelbrock carb, 600cfm, 2 1/4 pipes, performer intake, mild cam, I think that is about all. thanks

Your problem is coming from the exhaust. How old is it. Old mufflers and pipes start to rust, also carbon builds up (black sooty stuff that smells bad). You didn't metion anything about headers or exhaust in your combo, so......
I'd say unbolt your mufflers and tailpipe, when they're cold. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif Then take a look inside. You'll prolly see the same black stuff. It goes away after a while when the exhaust heats up and starts burning it. Then it just changes the color of the smoke a little bit and kind of smells funny.
