I'm searching for the blower motor resistor for my 64 w/ac. The original GM part number is 3840944. Best I can research, they changed part numbers is 65 but I'm not sure they actually changed the part. Anyone have one of those handy cross reference books that might give me another application or number to search for. The local NAPA and Advance parts stores were no help. Here's a couple of photos.

Why not clean the terminals of the one you have? I don't see breaks in the conductors--is the break hidden?

They list it in their catalog but when you enter the part number it comes back as....
"Catalog Part Number 3840944 is currently unavailable for online ordering."
The fan only blows high speed which, according to my searching, means it's bad. Of course it could be the connector. It's in worse shape.
Several vendors have a similar-in-appearance piece that is listed for 65-68. Might have to try one of those. The one I found at Ground Up online isn't even close.

It's unusual for a blower resistor to be "bad". Of course, it CAN happen.
Fifteen seconds with an ohmmeter will tell that tale.
I'd be expecting wiring harness problems; or a bad switch in the dash.
.....Fifteen seconds with an ohmmeter will tell that tale......
Even I can do that. :D

I have to agree the resistor should be ohm out to check most times it is the dash switch or the relay if yours has one on the a/c box
