hey

i have a 1970 402 engine with headers. my starter have a heat shield. the problem i am having is i would have trouble starting the car when it is hot - not because the starter cranks slowly and weakly, but the starter would just grind and make a horrible sound (like going into 3 **in the key position thing**, to 2, and into 3 before the starter stop spinning)

this seem to happen only once in a while when the car is cold, but 90% of the time when it is hot, what should i check?

thanks all

Make sure the wire your solenoid is clean and tight.(this is a typical problem)
If it is then then it sounds like a bad solenoid.
