Heres a pic of mine. Its a 69 though. Yes I know the stripes are to short I painted them that way because I brought the black up to above the headlights. I like it that way.

Color is Hugger Orange. Cheap and somewhat easy to match.

Do you have a better picture of your hood? I'm thinking of painting my 69 El Camino the same way.

Here's our '72 in the original color.......orange flame. It looks different depending on the light so I added two pictures to show the difference.

click on my name blwnrat upper left then click on my public profile to see my color. I took it from a porshe. Its called continental orange. When I mixed it I left out a littl red and added a little orange pearl & yellow pearl, .In the sun the color really pops. Have won best of paint few times>Compared to the factory Hugger orange this is much more orange were hugger has a redish tint. Hope it helps you.

lot of nice custom colors out there, just be sure to have extra left for touch ups or any repairs that might arise due to accidents, never know what will happen. Jim

I can get you a pic...thats easy.

I used to have a 69 Concors 4 door

Painted it silver and a homemade maroonish purple that I mixed.

Painted the car out back in the hot summer sun. Paint dried immediately.
I painted the Maroon at the bottom and brought it up along the front like my Orange one is. Separated the colors with a hot pink pin stripe. I got more compliments on that paint job then anything I ever did...I wish the digital camera was around then.

Hi,
Below is a link to my Photobucket. I have an Hugger Orange with Gold Pearl and Copper Candy. Sounds like a tough paint job huh? It wasn't that bad and I did it in my garage.
Good Luck and you will not be disappointed with Orange.

Believe it or not, I really want to paint my car soon.... It's looks "good" but I'm looking for almost perfect.. Besides I've done just about everything else to it, a paint job only seems in order :D:yes:

Thanks for the kind words though :beers:

69ssMike,
That is a good friend, most friends want stuff for free! That car looks like the one I just bought except for the stripe color. I bought mine for $3050 and it is a true paint code "72" car Monaco Orange. Below is the link.

BTW, where the heck have you been Mike??? LONG time no see, stop in chat sometime, I'm in there almost every night..

I got 12 grand for that rustbucket I had, but it ran good. Real SS's are hard to find AND will bring more money, paperwork seems easy to fake, vin tags are a little harder. Real busy at the shop, ice and snow are good:D, but I could do without the 30 below tonight!!!! It could be worse http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=28161&cat=21

NoTalent, I hate typing that name, everyone has a talent.

I used Hugger Orange as the base, then 1 coat of clear with Gold Pearl mixed in, then 1 coat of clear mixed with copper candy, then 3 coats of clear. Cut and buff when finished within 1-2 days. You can buy the pearl and candy powders that mix with clear at paintwithpearl.com.

If your looking for a basecoat clearcoat, Less work, easier repair if you need to. HOK really show the pearl in the sun. Not as much depth as the candy and pearl but still looks nice. The pic below shows how it looks in the sun.
