I have a 2000 Grand Am with a V-6 that started fine this morning but this afternoon cranks great but will not fire. Being that the temps in IL are below 0 with the wind chill is it possible the gas line is frozen or something? What can I look for to figure this out?
I am clueless when it come to fuel injection.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

your going to have to determine if its
a "no spark" condition or fuel related.
I would check for spark first and then go from there.

Do you check spark on the new cars the same as you do older ones? I don't want to fry the computer or myself. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

You can by a cheapy spark tester and fuel pressure gauge at most chain parts stores. Should be under $50 for both and you won't fry your computer. Don't use a screwdriver to check for spark on computer controlled cars!

just use a old spark plug or take one out but make sure you have the base/threads of it grouded either by laying on the engine or use a test lead from the threads to the engine or other good ground.

Thanks for the ideas.
All week the GA has been fine and being that it is in a parking garage I don't think it is a frozen line but electrical. The GA is my wife's car I want to get it running ASAP. I am now her taxi service.
Being so freaking cold spending hours trying to get it started or diag the car is not what I want to do.
I may have to get it towed to a shop. (Not going to be fun. Car is on 2nd floor and I don't think TowTruck can hook it) http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
I just don't want to make it worse and screw up the computer or something. The newer cars are just not my deal. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

as long as you have resitance on the plug wire when checking, like using a plug or a tester you won't hurt it.

How much gas is it the tank? If it is low it could be water in the lines.

A friend of mine had a van that died on the top floor of a parking garage. We pushed it down to street level using the e-brake and armstrong steering.
