Old Blue was in storage, but since I sold one of my Camaros I was able to bring the chevelle home. When istarted the car up it back fired once but then was running. fine once it warmed. However later in the day I decided to go for a short ride and when I got it warmed up it popped a couple of times at idle. It drove fine on the short trip. I stopped off at a buddy's and when I tried to leave it did not want to run below 1800 rpm and almost looked like it was trying to run backwards. Does this sound like the power valve popped. BTW car runs fine above 1800 with no power problems so am I correct in thinking that the plugs are not fouled? I checked the floats and they seemed to be adjusted okay. Is it possible the floats stuck causing flooding, since car had been sitting awhile? The carb is a 950 holley built by Allstate carbs in NY. I do have another carb I can use to isolate the problem but I wanted to hear from some experts. Thanks in advance for any reply.

It would running extremely rich, and would be difficult to start since all the fuel would be draining out when you shut it down. You'd get a lot of black smoke out of the exhaust, and you'd probably be fouling plugs left and right.
