Im sick of running into dead end wires, splices, buzzing coming through my speakers and stuff not working. I want to re wire the whole car, how tuff was the job? How long did it take? Run into any snags?

Was it really just as easy as plug and play? How much was the complete harness?

I did a harness similar to Painless, and most of it was easy.

BUT, I have a fairly good background, know how to solder and have equipment and supplies on hand.

I still am working on a couple very minor issues, but may be my mistake. Will know more later. Of course I modified things to add to the complication when I really didn't need to, I just did it because I can. Added relays for headlights, used LED lights, modified what connected where, added in circuit breakers where there were none before etc.

Painless has a pretty good kit and good reputation for the most part. Face it, electrical is the hardest part of a car for most guys. So some issues now and then is to be expected. They are still in business for a reason.

American Autowire makesa pretty good it as well.

Recent kits that have come out are similar to factory wiring if you look for the muscle car kit. If I had it to do over again that's the way I'd go. Very similar to M&H.

I used a painless kit for my car, it was a lot of work to do well. I would recommend going with a harness from M&H and modifying if necessary. It would have been a lot less work for me, and I have a full aftermarket dash.

I used American Autowire....I'm glad they made pretty good instructions and over all, it was pretty east. One thing with American (at least on the '65) You will need to make the hole for the fuse box a bit large - they give you a template but if you are looking for a resto, then use something else.

I used painless, make sure you buy the chevelle specific kit. I put my in myself and it wasnt bad at all.
Alot of guys have buy the cheap, universal kit and have had alot more problems getting it hooked up.

I'm in the process of putting a painless system in my car right now. Its not at all "Painless". I would look for another system.

Notalent, Some talent is needed in soldering, but I had no problems with the Painless 18 circ. GM Muscle kit #20102, except horn. It works when you ground the wire, but the horn button won't work it. Must be in the old column wire.
Not sure, but i think Painless harnesses cost less.

Im as picky as they get (also the biggest electrical dummy so this HAD to be easy) and I was 1000% satisifed with the M&H. Everything fits perfect, even the rear harness down to the clip's locatioin in the frame.

If you want a true plug and play this is it. Toss your bulbs in and youre golden.

i used the painless 18 circuit . i clipped all my plugs from the original harness, and reused all of them. painless was easy, and extremely well thought out kit, but my only problem with their kit was that it did not come with plugs. once i reused and soldered all my original ones it was a fairly simple ordeal. their tech help is excellent and right on the money. dollar for dollar it was worth it. neat, clean and fairly simple. all in all i would say around eight hours to complete.

I had noticed that M&H's site prices were lower than OPG (this was the only place I had looked, and I'm assuming OPG sells M&H harnesses because the part # was the same), but hadn't checked anywhere else. Usually it seems like manufacturer sites don't offer better prices than big resellers, so I wanted to see if should be checking elsewhere.

Thanks for the help.

I vote M&H as well as I replaced all my old wiring and update to the new blade fuse panel versus the glass style. It fit great and easy to install. Everything works...

I can get you all the harnesses you need from M&H I sell them at my cost for team members,it usually runs any where from 10 to 20 percent off some about 25 depends on harness.Example dash harness is only around 15% most others close to 25%.
