Saw the GM head honcho on tv this morning. Seems to have his head on straight as he was interviewed alongside the head of the UAW....
Heres my plan for a bail-out....
Ladies and Gentlemen....
The all new 2010 Chevelle Super Sport....
2 doors with all available power options including the GM 572 cu in engine !!!!!!!!!
(of course it would need a big trunk to house the lithium batteries too !!!!) haha....
we can only wish !!!!:hurray:

You may be on to something... They need to build cars that do everything the "Chevelle" line used to do. Something with several different body styles (coupe, convertible, 4dr, and wagon), several different engine/transmission options, (I4, V6, V8 w/ auto or manual available behind any of them), and ALL models available loaded, stripped down, and anywhere in-between.

drop an ecotech in a g8
and go..
power nothing..
or a g8 or new camaro.. with no power everything..
sadly ..try finding on one a dealers lot, even if g.m. was making them that way..

g.m. needs to set up a inhouse dealership that will take orders for cars..like strippers..
and not make the buyer pay sticker for it.. like if you ordered one from a dealer now..
dealer need to change.. as they are half the problem .most of the cars lines failed..
gto's
dealers only taking sticker, "it's the only one we got.." sell it
drive to a wharehouse and drive out another the same day..
they did the same thing to the 4th gen f body..
the 94-96 impala
these are the cars that will make a family come back to a dealer..
but the dealers where to greedy.. and only cared about that sale..
they already killed the g8 truck..
the camaro needs to sell..
and with g.m. dealer network now..
they will kill it..
g.m. should also slap a different nose on the g8 and call it a caprice..
and sell them in volume..
they should never put a chevelle name on a new car..
I'd love then to.. but it be like the gto..
never good enough for some because of the name..
if the new 2004-06 gto was called sunbird..
everyone would've been WOW nice car.. love it..
they slapped gto on the best proformance coupe pontiac ever had in their line up..
and the media /and the hot rod faithfull.. cry'd wolf..
it was pland
looks like a j body
likes to much like a grand am/grix
cost to much
(price was cheaper than the ws6 t/a of 2oo2 cost.)
and on and on..
so g.m. should never ever drop the velle name on anything..
because it could handle better than a vette/stop better/better mph/more hp/ built better
and be cheaper than said vette.. and never ever be good enough for the armchair quarterbacks that badmouth the car no matter gow good..

Its good to dream big.

More likley that I will someday dance naked on the moon but I applaud your dreams. 572 in todays economy and "go green" world.....to me that spells "cars set on fire by dirty footed hippies at the GM lots before they get sold" :D

masses dont want plain jane....masses want heated seats, electronics, TV's, back up cameras, auto stick shifters, cars that tell you when you miss a turn.....

Its the very reason that we all drive these cars. They dont and will never make anything even remotely comparable in terms of no fluff driving experience. However, I think there are some super cars out there that fall along this line and as soon as you score 180K or more to throw at a car you can have it.

I know we all love the Chevelle(s), but where is the "hype" over a new Chevelle? The Camaro is "favored" in the eyes of the world. But, the Chevelle has been around longer than the Camaro..where's the love?

'64-77 chevelle
67-2002 camaro
might have been built earlier but longer..

at this point I think g.m. should stick the middle finger up at every one. build v6 and v8 camaro strippers
and price them 12g's v6 //16 for v8 and let the rest follow..
maybe there is a market for this.. no ones try'd in 20 years.. and when they did.. the dealers wanted more for them than loaded one (le1)
wonder how many would buy a 300hp v6 camaro at 12g's than a civic or accord/scoin/etc

it's a kids car .. it doesn't need heated seats/ and to tell you when to turn..
thats what killed it the first time..
kids car with a big car payment..
the bulk of these need to be priced for the 20y/o to sell tons of them
let them build an rs/ss for the guy that wants it all..
power seats are pointless.. you set them.. and , ..
is it that hard to move them manually..
mirrors same thing.. I haven't moved them since I first bought the car 7/2006
17" 18" tires are nice but kids don't have the money to replace them...
he!! the 17's on my hhr are between 118-256 each.. for a wagon..

I agree,
The roofline is too 'round' for that car and although the features aren't bad individually, they don't go well together. I see they're trying to make it look more like a '70 but I'd like to see the '66 and '67 aspects like inset back window and sail panels, I think that'd probably solve part of the roofline problem....and back that grille up a little, it's too far out there. The middle of the body is round and the ends are square, doesn't match. Sharper lines in the middle need to go with sharp lines at the corners. The a$$ end is a bit too high also...try the earlier years with a lower trunk line. Just my opinion....:D

I've heard that Foose is contracted with Ford from time to time and he had a hand the the 'retro' Mustang (very unofficial though). He has done a few SEMA cars for them though.

Outside of the Impala, what GM design looks worth buying? They should fire all their designers. I'm not a chrylser guy at all, but the Challenger is a great looking car. The Camaro, won't even be around long. Poor retro design. The Mustang! Great retro design. How did GM miss this by so much?

I didn't think it was possible to design a car more insulting to the memory of a classic than they did with the camaro, but this thing is proves me wrong.

If GM ever built a "Chevelle" like that, I'd sell ALL my GM vehicles and buy Ford products. That is Horrible!!! I've seen it before and it still looks like dog poop.

Leave the Chevelle name where it belongs - terminated in the 1970s.

I think GM should drop the stupid "Package" options as well. Maybe have them as an aside, but let buyers pick and choose like the days of yesteryear. If you want leather seating, why do you have to have every other option? And producing these "throw-back" muscle cars fully loaded is stupid. Should allow the buyer to option it as they please.
