: 70 SC tri-centennial SS
FatalShack Jan 8th, 09, 12:38 AM Hi, I own a restoration shop in Atlanta and we now have a 70 Chevelle SC tri-centennial L34 in our shop for a full resto. We found the build sheet stuck to the back side of one of the door panels. This car still has the original greenish gold paint on it and is in decent shape. We are doing a full frame off, back to original specs, resto. We have done some research on this car and found on the build sheet that it was ordered from Wellborn Chevrolet in Honea Path SC and was sold from Greer Chevrolet in Greer SC. both are no longer in existence. Other than what I have read at the below links from your web site, we don’t have any other info. The car is a full numbers matching car and still has the SC tri-centennial badging on the front fenders. Does anyone on this forum have any more info than what has already been published? Does anyone know how many of these were built? I tried getting info from the SC tri-centennial commission but the only thing left are some old minutes of meetings. The folks at the archives did a cursory search but found no mention of Chevrolet playing any part in the celebration. Someone wrote on the Yenko forum that they had gone to the parade in Charleston and might have pix of the cars in the parade and was going to look for them. He never responded, as best I could tell.
If anyone has any additional information, I know my customer would be greatly appreciative if you would come forward with it.

RixLS6 Jan 8th, 09, 11:17 AM Was the Atlanta buildsheet dated 03-12?
I have copies of 2 other Special Paint tri-centennial cars that are dated that. One of the sheets may be a copy of yours.

Yes, the build sheet is dated 03-12 and the vin is 142095 which matches the engine. We also have another Chevelle, Malibu in our shop that was also built on 3-12 who's vin is 142147. Only 52 cars apart on the assembly line. What's the odds on that?
What are the vin numbers on the two build sheets that you have and what models and engine sizes are they?

One tri-centennial sheet is VIN 142049 and is an L34, the other has part of it's VIN missing, but is also an L34 built on 03-12
oldtimebaseballfan Jan 9th, 09, 9:58 AM Al, did the car come from an owner in the northern states? I was trying to buy one (can't remember which state) a few years ago and the owner lived up north.
I really was interested in the car. They are unique. Good luck with the resto.
FatalShack Jan 9th, 09, 6:27 PM The owner lives in New York State but he said he bought it out of North Carolina.
Joe Bertrand Jan 20th, 09, 1:59 PM I also own a 70 Chevelle tricentennial car. I am located in the Cleveland, OH area. I have started to compile a registery of these vehicles. So far I have located six. If you own one, or know of the where abouts of one, please contact me. My email is joebertrand@sbcglobal.net, or call 440-235-2474. Thanks, Joe

450HPChevelle Jan 22nd, 09, 7:05 PM Hey Oldtimebaseballfan (Tim),
That would be me.
This car was restored in its color Aniversary Gold.
If you look at picture two, you will notice the wheels were painted the same color as the car. I don't think my friend had the wheels painted to match the buildsheet though. The date on the buildsheet is also 3/12
Hey Guys,
I looked at a Chevelle today that a friend of mine is restoring.
It's a 70 SS 396 that was ordered with special paint.
Has anyone seen a car in this color? This build sheet has not been changed in any way. When the doorpanel was removed, the buildsheet looked like this in regards to the area circled showing the color the car is to be painted . Another thing I found interesting, it looks like the wheels were painted the same color as the car?
On the left side just below the list of options, it says Tricentenial.
I was wondering if that has something to do with the Color of the car.
What does all this mean? What do you Guys think?

FatalShack Jan 27th, 09, 11:40 AM Brian,
Does your friend still have this Chevelle and if so, can you put me in touch with him? Joe Bertrand & I are trying to gather as much info as possible on these cars.
