I have a dvd that I made that will only play on my computer. I used Roxio 7.5 media creator. Is there anything I can do to make this work on any DVD player?

Thanks,
Jon

I probably know less about this than you do, but I always have trouble "closing" the DVD and it won't play anywhere but the computer.

Also, I'm no fan of anything from Roxio.

When you explore the DVD what directories or file types are you seeing?
You may have inadvertently burned in the wrong format.

Very common problem.

Yes, check the format 1st.

Check the name of the DVD. If it's too long or has spaces, different characters, that could kill it in some DVD players.

Try re-burning at a MUCH slower rate.

I have found that many times the info is scrambled when burning too fast.

I had a full stack of 100 CD's that if I did not slow down the burning process were just junk.

Make sure that the buffering "ON" option is chosen too or the burner will just skip over info that it can't "get" fast enough.

Roxio will default to "best speed" (might be 20X), choose 1X or 2X.

definitely check the format, and even the codec it uses. I know some movies can come in a DivX or another type of format that dvd players cannot play. I would try to see if what your playing is a file not able to played on your dvd player. If that is the case there are plenty of file converters that can change the format to an AVI that will play on your dvd player

Took it to a friends house and it played on a old and a fairly new DVD player. Brought it home and it played. Weird stuff going on don't ya think?

Thanks for all the help.
