Hello,

Wondering if anyone has installed the Walker Hemi style mufflers on their big block Chevelle?

I have had a set of Hooker Super Competition mufflers on my car for years (full exhaust with tailpipes). They work great at the track, and sound great. But I must be getting old because they are loud when driving for an hour or so.

I've read great things about the Walkers (low backpressure, quiet, etc). How quiet is quiet? Wondering if they will really quiet my car down, or if they will sound the same as the Hookers I have now.

I have some on my 64EC with a ZZ3 and they idle like stock , sound good at cruise. I bet they'd be just right for your Rat.

I'm running hooker s/c on my 427 with 2.5 pipe(full exh)and walker dyno max mufflers,
quiet as heck!!!!
Everyone at the local cruise joint thought it was a small block!
I would imagine the hemi series is the same way.(they were designed originally for large Rec vehicles campers,motor homes etc...)

I agree with Sean, Dyno Max muffer are great.
I got so tired of the noise I had with 3 chamber Flowmasters. I want my car to be as quite as possible until I mash the peddle.
My 1/4 times are the same with either muffler, but now I can get into my garage without wakeing the neighborhood up!

A friend of mine has the hemi-style Super Turbos on his '70 SS396 and they're just slightly louder than stock. I have regular Dynomax Super Turbos on my '69 396 and they're a little louder than the hemi-style, but much quieter than the Hooker Comps I used to have on it. The Super Turbos sound like a mild glass pack without the loud noise on decelleration. Per a magazine comparo, Super turbos had less back pressure than almost all others, including the most mentioned brand. von
