12bolt is a B.O.P. unit

If no vin was ever stamped on the block, then it can't be #s matching

Rear does look like an Olds unit and it also has a 72 dash. The cowl tag missing would keep me from buying it anyway!

how is it possible to not have a vin stamped into it unless it's a crate motor?

What type of setup is that with the lower control arms?

Partial VINs aren't always stamped on the engine pad. If it were a warranty engine, it wouldn't have the CLB suffix identification it'd be stamped with CExxxxxx serial number. With the Olds rear end and 72 dash, it looks more like something tossed together.

What does the CLB come out to be?

"No vin has ever been stamped on block"

Think maybe all stamping was removed when the deck was blocked?

CLB is a 71 year 402 block for a car with a TH400 trans. My 71 has it's original CLB block

Hmm I guess it's possible to be the original motor.
