Anyone ever had a Qjet you just couldn't seal up? I'm on my second late seventies carb. I completely rebuild both of them including sealing ALL the plugs on the bottom of the carb body with 24-hour JB weld. On the second one I used JB weld followed by Gasoila, an industrial strength sealant impermeable to petroleum products. I allowed the JB weld to cure prior to application of the gasoila. The gasoila cured before I put the carb into service.

These things leak down really bad. Within 1/2 hour the entire garage stinks of gas vapor to the point I'd be concerned about lighting a match. It's a real bear to start such a flooded engine too. Within 24 hours the carb bowl is completely dry and I have to spin it over sufficiently to pump up the carb before it will start.

Fuel pressure is rock steady at 5.0 psi. When I turn off the engine it drops to 0 psi within 30 seconds. I've had two new needle & seats and two new floats in the current carb. I've set the float level 2/32" below the factory setting (currently at 17/32")

Besides this inconvenience the Carb works flawlessly. Any constructive suggestions appreciated.
