http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif i just rebuilt my 66 396 and pulled out all the stops,,bored.060 new KEATH BLACK pistons
new (cast) hastings rings,,new cam/lifters,new hv oil pump,,new valve job,,a complete workover,($1450.worth),machinest set the ring gap,,i paid good attation to the ring placement,,,but when i started it,, it wants to smoke (white)not a hole lot,,but way to much to be happy,,please any help???i dont ant to tear it down,,but i will once i know what to do,,i thought i was doing it right the first time,,

Rings might not be seating properly. Did you drive the car yet?? Does it smoke really bad at idle or when you get on it..or both??? More imfo!!!

White smoke might be an over-rich carb. What kind of carb do you have? If it's a Holley, check for a bad power valve and you might even want to drop the main jets down a size or two. Good luck.

yes i have about 20 or so miles on it,,and it seems to be worst when you let off on it.sitting there is some ,,but more when you let it off a run.its got a good-ole holly on it and will try a power valve to
