Idle speed? Initial timing? Something obstructing fuel delivery? Assure these and then trim the IMS

When you are "on the gas", how much are you on? Are you saying it dies, for example, below 2000 rpm or does it die below 500 rpm?

Without any more info, Midnight hit the top items - check you idle speed screw, your timing, and your fuel @ idle.

timing is correct and fuel is fine, it tries to die under 1500

Does it seem to be running rich, even at 1500? Try pulling off a vacuum line at the base of the carb - if it runs better with the extra air, you may be flooding the car out at low rpms's

Check plugs to see if you are running it to rich or too lean. Black plugs are a sign of to rich. Whitish plugs are a sign of lean
