I just transplanted another 350 in my 65ss. The block is a 83 with offset starter bolt holes. the tranny is the original m20 with the original bellhousing. Ive tried 3 different starters all with different nose pieces and all of them hit the bellhousing before the holes line up. does anyone know why? what starter do I need? The guys at the local parts store can't look up a 83 block with a 65 tranny, and they can't say if GM changed bellhousings along the way.

starter should have a smaller cast iron nose. bolts are also shorter. you can get one from any gm dealer (thats where I got mine).
